Written journals have always escaped me. Since my language of choice has always been visual, I began this series as a deeply personal endeavor to reflect, challenge, and process my emotions. I focus on layers and texture, as the complexities within the emotions explored intertwine with different contrasting paints. This series challenges my artistic comfort with compositions and materials, pushing myself to lean into the unknown and feel the discomfort of creating imbalances images, leaving negative space, and experimenting with different implied and 3D textures.

Deep in the artistic process, I gave myself permission to 'just create,' and my paintings even moved into my small apartment with me. Every day (and most nights) I was delving into the creative, but knew that feeling wouldn't last forever. The idea was simple. Each day of the year, I would make one page in an altered book; each day I would create one page of art.
